2nd Annual Africa Rural Education & ICT Learning Tools Conference 2023
Programme Overview
Education is recognised as a route out of poverty, however; poor pupils from rural areas still experience distinct challenges in accessing quality education. After successfully hosting our inaugural event in East London in 2022 we are on the road again, this time we are off to the Western Cape.
Over the last ten years, the way in which education is delivered has changed considerably with the advent of new technologies. However, rural schools have lagged behind due to lack of funding, and the physical remoteness of rural schools compounds the lack of money and infrastructure available. The importance of technology in the classroom — technology that adds value to learning and empowers students — cannot be overstated. Technology can give rural students a way to discover ideas on their own, possibly gain exposure to a diverse network of people, and act as a navigational tool if it is accessible, well implemented, and understood. Providing rural students with personal tech items such as tablets and computers expands their learning opportunities.
The Rural Education and ICT Learning Tools Conference is the intersection of passion and possibility, curiosity and discovery, education and technology. And it’s the kind of learning that will change the story of education. This Conference provides a forum for discussion, collaboration and intellectual exchange for all those in the education space, be it in the field of research, technology or practice. Come attend an event with diverse sessions and top notch speakers, great ideas and resources, and map out meaningful connections with peers. The event will provide life-giving energy, and the discovery of what you didn’t think was possible– all rolled into one remarkable conference.
