3rd Annual International Academic Integrity And Security Symposium 2024
Overview
The question of academic integrity quickly gained prominence when global coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) restrictions forced higher education institutions to switch to online teaching, learning and assessment in 2020. This resulted in rapid pedagogical adaptations pertaining to content, examinations outcomes, assessments and modes of teaching.
However these changes brought more harm than good as stories of paper leaks and cheating have surfaced, thus jeopardising the integrity and the worthiness of education in South Africa and on the continent. Cheating discredits the hard work put by honest students and the entire educational system, reducing the worth and credibility of qualifications earned. It is essential for students to remember the importance of integrity and dedication to their studies.
